Sometimes you have to learn the hard way...

I continue to love everything that has to do with acting. It has been a while since I posted on here last, but a few things have happened since. I did a few short films and I will be posting links on here. I am still waiting for a few copies of things I have done but I will get them eventually. One of the coolest things that happened is that with one of the shortfilms I did I received my first IMDb credit. I didn't know about that at all and one time I was being a bit jealous that one of my acting friends was on there but I was also happy for him and he asked everyone to check it out and like it. I certainly did and wrote back to him that I just did that and that he shouldn't forget about us.What I meant was: "Don't forget us when you are an all big actor..." but he understood it differently, went on IMDb and found me on there. That was so awesome, I can't even describe how cool that felt. :) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4340400/
I am still waiting for the copy of that shortfilm. I haven't even seen my own scene in there yet, but I am hoping I will get it eventually.
Then I did another shortfilm but sadly the guy in charge of the camera didn't tell us that the audio would be totally messed up. And so sadly you can't hear much so the director kind of did a story telling narrator to at least rescue the whole shoot a little bit.

There are 3 other shortfilms I did. One is still in the editing process where I played a lead role. I was a german woman, meeting a russian waitress and getting into an argument about what happened between Russians and germans in World War II. The director wants to point out how each culture experienced it and that it is time to let go and forgive. Once it is done and I have a copy, I will definitely post it. I am excited myself to see the final product. I had a great time at the shoot and had a lot of fun with the fellow actors and the director. :)

Then I was part of the 48hour Film Project San Diego. It was so cool. I was part of a team and it seemed like a really cool group. We met on friday night to put together a story and at around 7.00pm we found out our genre. Our genre was detective/ cop and I was so excited as I always wanted to play a detective. Sure enough I was one of the main characters. :) Saturday morning we met early and shot until the afternoon. I had a blast and enjoyed every minute of it. After the shoot the editing process began and so we actors went home since we were done with our work. After a couple of hours at home I received a call from a different team who asked if I could come over as in right now as one of their actors had canceled on them last minute and they needed a female actress to play the main characters girlfriend. I didn't know anything about the whole film except my scene and so the next few hours we shot that scene. It also was fun and I enjoyed meeting another group of people I had never met before. Here is the link to that one: However they use a lot of bad language in there!!! But you can check out just my scene. It starts at 2.47 and ends at 4.10 after that they really start swearing. :( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW6NP__zMtA
The story for that one is weird and strange and doesn't make that much sense when you watch it, but it was still fun to do my scene.
Next week they show all the shortfilms that were turned in on time, in the Ultrastar Theater in Mission Valley. I was so excited when I found out that I would be seen on the big screen and they also have a red carpet event beforehand. It was a dream come true.
Unfortunately this past week I hardly heard from my team at all and if I did it was just bits of pieces of that they had to change things on our film, that scenes were cut out and so on. Whenever I e-mailed or contacted someone they wouldn't reply and it was getting really weird. I just wanted to know what changes had been made after all I had invited a bunch of my friends and they had paid for the tickets and such. Well in the end and after pestering them I found out that they had cut me (and the other actors) out completely and filmed a whole new story. :( I was so disappointed and frustrated when I found that out. I mean all my friends were going because they wanted to see me and now this? The tickets weren't cheap either. I was just upset once again about the dishonesty from other people. I felt betrayed from the team because not telling us really what was going on sucked and I didn't like the fact that we were obviously not really considered part of the team otherwise they would have included us.
But on the otherhand it made me more determined than ever. Yes my dream was shattered and yes I am still disappointed but it also shows me how important it is to be honest and upfront with people and to be truly commited and stick to your word. I have always tried to be like that but that makes me want to do it even more.
The other film will be shown at the Theater on Thursday night but I won't be able to see that. Oh well. Disappointments won't stop me and I love every little success I've had in the past. :)
